Abstract

Summary. The aim of this study was to investigate the platelet activity in smokers with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Platelet aggregation was studied using the impedance aggregometer "Chrono-log" with ADP and collagen induction in the whole citrated blood samples. Slowing of early stages of aggregation was seen in patients with COPD. More severe COPD corresponded to more active aggregation. We also evaluated effects of acetylsalicylic acid (Cardiomagnyl) on dyspnea and lung function in patients with COPD.

Abstract

Summary. Leading specialists (n = 91) of tertiary medical facilities were questioned on drug formulations and dosing of 102 commercially available medications routinely used in COPD. The aim of the surveillance was to determine critically important (essential) and additional (non-essential) medications using VEN-analysis (V – vital; E – essential; N -non-essential). Data of the surveillance were proceeded using an intellectual method. Distribution of drugs through VEN groups resulted in selection of medications effective in COPD. Critically important medication groups for inpatient and outpatient treatment of COPD were also determined.

Abstract

Summary. Neurovegetative regulation of the cardiorespiratory system was studied in 229 participants (83 healthy persons and 146 patients with bronchial asthma) using the synchronous analysis of heart rhythm and systolic and diastolic blood pressure variability. All participants were divided into groups depending on smoking status. The groups differed in parameters of neurovegetative regulation. More prominent neurovegetative regulatory disorders were found in smokers. Formation of strongly determined regulatory system was shown in patients with bronchial asthma. Smoking led to early quantitative and qualitative remodeling of the regulatory system.
