Abstract
Summary. Clinical and morphological features of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) related to various occupational groups were studied in 180 patients exposed to different industrial pollutants. Prevalence of atrophic changes in bronchi and macrophage type of inflammation was found. Patients with COPD experience early functional changes of endothelium and of haemostasis that were most prominent in those exposed to chemical hazards.
