Впервые в одном из центральных регионов России (Рязанская обл.) проведено эпидемиологическое исследование по протоколу Всемирной организации здравоохранения с использованием опросников, прошедших официальную процедуру языковой адаптации. Жители сельской местности, обратившиеся за медицинской помощью (1 505 человек), и лица, выбранные случайным образом в населенных пунктах, включенных в исследование (2 116 человек), заполняли короткий опросник для сбора информации о демографических показателях, факторах риска, респираторных симптомах, диагностированных заболеваниях и сопутствующей патологии. У группы пациентов проводилась спирометрия и оценка качества диагностики и лечения патологии органов дыхания. Факторы риска широко распространены среди сельского населения (курят ~50 % взрослых мужчин). Обнаружена высокая частота респираторных симптомов, особенно в старших возрастных группах, среди курящих и работающих во вредных производственных условиях. Наличие хотя бы 1 хронического респираторного симптома отмечают 41 % опрошенных в общей популяции, нарушение функции внешнего дыхания в мужской популяции достигает 29 %.
