Одно из самых широкомасштабных исследований в мире на эту тему, проведенное в России, показало, что бетаблокаторы и ингибиторы АПФ (ИАПФ) снижают ОФВ1  более чем на 200 мл / год, а блокаторы кальциевых каналов не
влияют на ОФВ1. Таким образом, терапия ИАПФ и βблокаторами существенно усугубляла состояние больных ХОБЛ. После зарегистрированного снижения легочной функции больные были рандомизированно распределены на 2 группы, одна из которых получала регулярную терапию форадилом. Это позволило достоверно уменьшить скорость падения ОФВ1, особенно у больных с легкой и средней
степенью обструкции. Таким образом, форадил обладает протективным воздействием на легочную функцию. Кроме того, форадил,
улучшая легочную вентиляцию и снижая гипервоздушность, оказывает существенное положительное влияние на сердечно-сосудистую
систему, которое значительно превосходит его потенциально возможные побочные кардиальные эффекты.
Таким образом, Форадил может рассматриваться как оптимальный препарат для лечения больных ХОБЛ и сопутствующими сердечно-
сосудистыми заболеваниями
